Coffin of the Virtual Mummy

The mummy still lies in the original lower part of the coffin, in which it was buried 2300 years ago. It is made of sycamore wood, a native Egyptian species, in the form of a mummy. The shape and decoration of the coffin makes it possible to date back the mummy to the Ptolemaic age (300 B.C.).

The inscription on the coffin tells us, that it encloses the mummy of a female of which the name is unfortunately illegible.

Described parts of the head: mask, ring of justification, linen cover, skull, ointment, stick, coffin.
