Linen Cover of the Virtual Mummy

[linen cover]

The body of the deceased woman is wrapped in several layers of linen. The mummy's bandage material is not especially woven for this use. Instead, the Egyptians took old clothes, torn into strips, or household textiles for wrapping. The total processed surface of linen used for a mummy can be larger than 300 square metres.

The finish of the mummy's cover is a continuous large piece of linen which was coloured with safflor-red in the case of this mummy.

Described parts of the head: mask, ring of justification, linen cover, skull, ointment, stick, coffin.
