VOXEL-MAN Sonography is a new virtual training simulator for abdominal and endoscopic ultrasound examinations of the torso. Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) of the upper gastrointestinal tract is a very powerful diagnostic technique in cardiology, pneumology, gastroenterology and other fields. However, the anatomical lead structures are difficult to find and the resulting ultrasound images are difficult to interpret.
So far, training opportunities for endoscopic ultrasound are very limited. VOXEL-MAN Sonography closes an important gap here. It comes as a portable system based on a laptop computer and a haptic device.
