5 Training of surgical approaches and manual dexterity
With VOXEL-MAN training simulators, difficult parts of an intervention can be practiced over and over again. The anatomy may be inspected from all sides, and the bone can be removed to see the structures at risk.
Three orthogonal sectional images that permanently follow the position of the instrument provide additional views of the anatomy and can be used to practice working with a surgical navigation system.

With essential parts of the surgical residency training on the simulator, the wet lab can be considerably smaller.
7 Objective evaluation of training results
VOXEL-MAN simulators provide predefined tasks and an automated surgical skills assessment. Errors such as injuries of nerves and vessels are recorded, and a video recording of the session is available for debriefing. Training results can be monitored and visualized as learning curves for individuals and groups.
As all residents undergo standardized training procedures, results are comparable – on a local, national or even international level.

9 Import of training cases
But you are not limited to predefined training cases. With the VOXEL-MAN My Cases application, you can import interesting patient cases from CT or CBCT and make them available as training cases in the simulator.
10 Authoring of training tasks
In addition, you can create your own tasks for each case (predefined or imported), which appear and can be used just like the built-in tasks – and even provide an automatic skills assessment.
11 Intraoperative 3D printing
With the VOXEL-MAN 3D Printing application, you can create unique 3D models of your virtual patients – at any stage of the intervention.
12 Platforms for different requirements
Most VOXEL-MAN simulators are available on different hardware platforms to meet different needs:
- VOXEL-MAN Lite offers one application with a 2D display and a haptic device in a lightweight and cost-effective system. It is therefore particularly suitable for mobile use or for complementary systems.
- VOXEL-MAN Workstation offers a 3D display and two haptic devices for two-handed work. Additional applications can be installed, including applications from other specialties. It is therefore particularly suitable for stationary training in hospitals and universities, as well as for medical training centers.
