The head of the mummy is made of several layers of linen, which are covered with stucco as a surface for painting.
Mummy masks are not shaped according to the individual features of the deceased, but represent an idealized image. Sometimes you can’t even tell if it’s the mask of a man or a woman. With the eyes wide open, the mummy is portrayed at the moment of reawakening after death, to live an eternal life in the world to come. The golden paint on the face symbolizes that the judgement of the dead has already decided in favor of the woman and that she is now a transfigured being.
Described parts of the head: mask, crown of justification, linen cover, skull, ointment, fixation stick, coffin.
